Why deal with a VACC member?
There are a number of reasons why you should deal with a member.
 
VACC Members:
  • Abide by a Code of Business Practice that sets high standards for the services they provide. The VACC member sign on a business premises indicates a motor industry professional dedicated to exemplary service.
    For instance VACC Automobile Dealers are:
  • Required to have a thorough knowledge of, and comply with, the provisions of the Motor Car Traders Act (1986) and Regulations.
  • Will warrant clear title to any vehicle sold to a consumer.
  • Will offer a vehicle for sale on its merits without exaggeration, concealment or misrepresentation.
  • Will at all times observe proper standards of conduct in regard to the sale of vehicles and the service required to vehicles, and will not knowingly mislead a consumer in relation to the condition of the vehicle either in sales or service.
  • Will not, in connection with the sale or purchase of a vehicle, the sale of spare parts or accessories or the performance of service, either on his or her own behalf or as agent, knowingly be a party to any improper practice concerned herewith.
  • Will not wilfully or falsely represent that a vehicle is available for sale, either by advertisement or treaty, when it is not in fact available for sale.
  • Will at all times abide by the laws governing the contracts for sale in relation to the sale of a vehicle, to the supply of a quotation and the performance of repairs and will make clear to both parties all the terms and conditions upon which business is being done.
  • Will at all times abide by the laws governing the Contract to finance the purchase of vehicles both in terms of information supplied to the consumer, and to the financier.
  • Will at all times abide by the laws governing the presentation and content of advertisements in relation to vehicle, or prices, or service and shall not be presented in such a way as to confuse or mislead a consumer.
  • AADA Members are also required to follow further Codes for Business Presentation and for resolving complaints.
  • VACC Members give back to the community through employment and apprenticeships.
  • VACC provides a consumer advice line who can advise consumers of their rights when dealing with a member.
  • VACC works closely with the Government and the Department of Consumer and Business Affairs for the benefit and improvement of trade and the improvement of customer services.
  • VACC members, unlike backyarders and illegal traders, abide by regulatory obligations in OH&S, the environment and tax.
