Better Car Deals is a new publication to help consumers navigate their way through the sometimes challenging process of buying a new or used car.
The result of a two-year collaboration between VACC, RACV and Consumer Affairs Victoria, Better Car Deals is available online and hard copy in quick-reference format or a comprehensive 54-page publication.
VACC Executive Director, David Purchase, said the new publication was designed for more than just first-time car buyers. “This definitive and unique guide also provides consumers with invaluable advice on preventative maintenance as well as what to do if involved in an accident,” he said.
“Importantly, Better Car Deals underscores the benefits and increased protection in buying from a Licensed Motor Car Trader. Too many consumers unwittingly fall prey to unscrupulous unlicensed traders and buying unprotected at private sales.”
Consumer Affairs Minister, Daniel Andrews said the publication would become an important tool in helping educate consumers wishing to purchase a car. “Buying a car is a significant financial commitment and one that can be confusing,” Mr Andrews said.
“Many first car buyers need help to make the right decision. Better Car Deals will help steer consumers in the right direction.”
