Engine oil level
To check your oil level, be sure that the vehicle is parked on level ground. If the engine is running, turn the engine off and wait at least five minutes for the oil to settle. Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean with a lint free cloth and fully reinsert it. Pull the dipstick out again add note the oil level on the dipstick. If the level is between the "Full" and the "Add" marks it is satisfactory. If it is near the "Add" line, add enough oil to bring the level to the "Full" line.
Only use oil that meets the specification of your vehicle's manufacturer. This information is located in the owner's handbook.
Power steering fluid level
Check the power steering level at the pump or separate reservoir if fitted. Add fluid if necessary to bring the level up to the "Full" mark. Only use a fluid that has been specified for your vehicle by its manufacturer. If the fluid level requires regular topping up, it is likely to be leaking and should be inspected by a VACC accredited workshop.
Windscreen washer fluid level
Check this level regularly and fill to maximum level. Plain water may be used if washer fluid is not available. However, in cold weather, use windshield washer solution to prevent it freezing.
