Learn about EMV

You may have noticed some of your customers present Credit or Debit Cards that have a 'chip' noticeably embedded in them. This is EMV technology and simply put, this has been developed by a joint venture between Europay, MasterCard and Visa to improve card security globally.

Its purpose is to set a standard for processing chip card electronic payments with higher levels of security.It includes a fraud prevention mechanism where the cardholder is validated by the chip on the card.

Merchant service providers are currently working on EMV-compliant merchant terminals, which will be certified to process chip card transactions. The CBA plans to make this secure electronic payment technology available to all VACC member merchants in the near future.

Which Terminal suits you?

EFTPOS Plus: Standard terminal available to all VACC Members. Accepts MasterCard, Visa, Debit and Charge Cards. More functions and enhanced features than EFTPOS Lite. Multiple terminal and XPOS capability which allows you to sell Phone Cards, CityLink passes and many other products which in turn provide a source of commission back to you as the seliing agent.

EFTPOS Lite: Suited to businesses that require one EFTPOS terminal and which process less than $250,000 in transactions per year. Accepts MasterCard, Visa, Debit and Charge Cards.

EFTPOS Mobile: A completely portable EFTPOS terminal solution that has a printer, card reader, battery and modem built-in to a light-weight, easy-to-carry device. Accepts MasterCard, Visa, Debit and Charge cards. Data is transmitted via the GPRS network.
