Serving our members since 1918

VACC has been working alongside people in the retail automotive industry since 1918. Back then, a group of garage proprietors from Ballarat, Geelong and Bendigo got together to form an Association to counter the market power of big business and to lobby the government of the day.

What motivated those founders of our association remains true today. This is why VACC provides a range of services to assist and advise its members in business and, with the strength of numbers behind them, to work towards a fairer business environment.

Your industry association

The people in business who make up VACC are just like you. They are business people with common goals facing common problems. They have joined the VACC because they recognise that there is strength in numbers and that, collectively, they can positively influence the future of the industry and the business environment in which they operate.

Member alliance partner benefits

As well as industrial relations assistance and a range of other professional services, VACC members are entitled to a range of discounts and other benefits. Learn more about them here.

Ten reasons why joining is a good business decision

You know your business, inside and out. Our business is to offer you service, advice and benefits, to give you answers when you need them and to make doing what you do a little easier and more profitable.

Our members:

1. are provided with specialised advice and representation on industrial relations matters pertinent to the automotive industry. This advice covers issues such as recruitment and termination, wage rates and workplace policies (where errors or oversights can lead to crippling costs or damage claims).

2. have access to technical advice and assistance through VACC’s Technical Helpline and Tech Talk Online.

3. abide by a Code of Practice and are recognised by the community as offering superior professionalism, capability and integrity.

4. are provided with OHS advice and information specific to their activities in business. Errors or oversights can expose employers.

5. have the backup of a powerful lobby group which influences government policy-making for the benefit of  members and regularly attracts media notice and comment. Through their involvement in VACC, members can contribute to the future of their industry.

6. have access to assistance in the recruiting of apprentices and the securing of government incentives through VACC Employment Services.

7. can maintain a competitive advantage through access to specialised training in engine diagnostics, paint and body technologies, business management, taxation and a range of other key business disciplines through VACC’s Training Services. Training for VACC members is provided in both metropolitan and regional locations.

8. derive competitive advantage through the display of the VACC brand. VACC members are promoted through media advertising and can align their business to the VACC brand through their own advertising and signage.

9. have access to a range of discounted products and services - such as discounted EFTPOS, workwear, health insurance, business consumables and telecommunications packages. The savings from these benefits can be equal to, or greater than, the cost of membership for most members.

10. are supported by an organisation that sincerely strives to respond to their needs and to offer the support they seek.
