VACC Vehicle Safety Campaign

Welcome to the VACC's Vehicle Safety Campaign

Driving a well maintained and regularly serviced vehicle reduces the risk of being involved a crash.

VACC encourages motorists to drive the safest vehicle they can, but even a vehicle with modern safety features such as ABS and ESC can be unsafe - if the tyres are worn, the brakes are defective and the seatbelts are frayed.

VACC works closely with the Government, its instrumentalities and Victoria Police with initiatives to reduce the road toll and to educate motorists about the importance of vehicle safety.

VACC collects data from the Five Point Safety Check and produces quarterly results – these are the only vehicle safety figures recorded in Victoria.

“Until the Government introduces mandatory annual vehicle inspections, participating VACC members will continue to deliver the Five Point Safety Check – an additional check of the tyres, brakes, lights, steering and restraints. This voluntary check is performed free of charge to motorists at the point of service,” VACC Executive Director, David Purchase.
