The Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC) has congratulated Premier Steve Bracks and his Labor team for their win at the State Election.
VACC Executive Director, David Purchase, said VACC hoped to build on the good relationship and it enjoyed with the Bracks Government and continue to achieve real gains for businesses in the automotive retail industry.
“However, there is work to be done and some real policy shifts needed if Labor is to grow the confidence of our industry sector,” Mr Purchase said.
Mr Purchase said over the next term of the Bracks Government, VACC would remain focussed on the key issues it had outlined in the lead up to the election.
“VACC will continue to press for reductions in land tax and payroll tax, for the creation of an Office of Regulation to reduce red tape, for a reduction in new vehicle stamp duty, the application of OHS law to work vehicles, and better transport policy for motorcycles and scooters,” Mr Purchase said.
“We need, and we trust we will have, a Government prepared to act to support small business, prepared to work to ensure a fair trading environment, and to ensure the continued viability of small business in this State.
“A vibrant small business sector, and retail automotive sector, is critical to the economic health of Victoria.” he said.
