25 February - Get into the Melbourne Motor Show fast lane with E-Ticket

Entry into the 75th anniversary Melbourne Motor Show (February 27 to March 9) has never been quicker or easier.

Organisers of the Show, the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC) have developed an online ticketing system to speed up entry at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.

VACC has pioneered E-Ticket and is the first in the world to use 3G enabled barcode scanning at venues. Last year, the technology was trialed for the first time and processed around $60,000 in entry tickets.

For the 2009 Melbourne Motor Show, E-Ticket is expected to process approximately $150,000 worth of tickets.

E-Ticket allows online purchasers to use their credit card to obtain a barcode. The barcode is then printed and presented at the venue before being scanned by a hand-held Motorola MC70 scanner. It is a simple as that.

The barcode can either be purchased via the official Melbourne Motor Show website (www.motorshow.com.au) or from four kiosks in the foyer of the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, which accept EFTPOS and all major credit cards.

“E-Ticket is an advanced online ticketing system. It means anyone attending the Motor Show who has used E-Ticket will walk straight into the hall, with the minimum of fuss,” VACC Executive Director, David Purchase said.

“E-Ticket has virtually made queuing a thing-of-the-past. Visitors using the system will be through the doors in a matter of seconds.

“VACC wants everyone who visits the Show to maximise their time in the hall and E-Ticket has gone a considerable way to achieving this.

“VACC sees great potential in E-Ticket and we are exploring many future avenues. We are confident that this can become one of the most-used venue ticketing systems in Australia.

“If you are considering coming to the Melbourne Motor Show, give E-Ticket a try. It is quick and easy – just like getting into the show,” Mr Purchase said.
