Australia’s most spectacular Hot Rods, cool customs and bikes will be on show at the Melbourne Exhibition Building, Carlton, over the Australia Day weekend.
From January 23 -26, more than 180 rods, customised cars, bikes and even boats will gather for a memorable four days.
The Victorian Hot Rod Association is expecting in excess of 25,000 visitors to the World Heritage-listed venue.
Visitors to the Show will be invited to help choose ‘Australia’s Coolest Rod’. There is also a door prize of a motor scooter for one lucky show goer.
“It is going to be a very exciting event. Expect plenty of chrome, amazing engines, riotous body-modifications and astonishing craftsmanship,” VACC General Manager, Communications and Marketing, Tim O’Brien said.
“Hot rods appeal to all ages. Even if you are not a car enthusiast, you cannot help but be impressed by these machines and the thousands of painstaking hours in building them. Many of the vehicles are, genuinely, works of art.
“Top prize for the Show – for the ‘most desirable vehicle’ on display - is a return air ticket for the owner to the USA, with entry to similar iconic custom car events there.
“And the next generation of budding car artists will have their chance to show off their talents. Among the range of kid’s activities, there will be a colouring competition, with trophies in the Under 5, Under 10, Under 15 and Open categories.
“It should be a lot of fun for all the family,” Mr O’Brien said.
